A DOG CAN’T MEOW
The coaltion’s election win in May was a shock to almost all Australians.
While there has been much post analysis regarding the result, what remains abundantly clear, is no matter how adept advisors and politicians are at cultivating messages, sometimes what is being said isn’t being heard.
Something key to remember in all of your personal and business dealings is, people process information differently. It’s so important to know your audience and know their language.
With the benefit of hindsight, there are some major advancements in modern day communications that we can all adopt when wanting to sell a product or service, create change or engage an audience.
One of these major advancements is via the application and understanding of neuroscience in communication.
According to author and Communications expert Jeremy Teitelbaum, there are “New technologies that allow us to see inside human brains and understand what occurs when we speak and listen to each other. Scientific findings suggest that the different ways that people communicate is the result of the different ways our brains are “wired” to think, speak, listen, and act.”
Teitelbaum goes on to say that historically we have thinking there may be “one right way to communicate.” The challenge lies in the fact that when different brains get together we may not be processing our communication in the same way. So, if we continue to neglect our biological differences, we will continue to have communication challenges and difficulties. It’s not that people don’t want to connect, it’s that they can’t. They are stuck working with their own brains. It is a little like asking your dog to meow to your cat. No matter how much training you do, a dog will never be able to “speak” like a cat.”
Your Small Act that is sure to have a Major Impact is to test how your messages are being heard before sharing them with the wider community.
