AT WHAT COST?
At What Cost?
Saying yes is at a cost.
Saying no is at a cost.
Saying nothing is at a cost.
Every time we say yes to something it means we are saying no to something else. And most of the time, it is at a cost……………
Staying silent when someone’s behaviour is inappropriate may cost you peace of mind in the moment and even over the next few days, yet your silence allows you to leave the situation with grace and dignity for all the comments you could have made.
Saying yes to caring for family or people in need may be at the cost of your business, yet in the long run, when you reflect on your life, being there for those you love will feature far more powerfully in your memories than the extra hours you worked.
Saying yes to a customer that doesn’t align with your values may have a short term positive return on your bottom line, yet can negatively impact your brand and drain your company’s resources.
In 2018, I had to choose between blogging, taking on new clients and playing a more active role with my family. I chose the latter. I am grateful to have had the privilege to spend time doing what I did. Many people don’t.
So here I am in March 2019 posting my first blog in over 15 months.
When I started my blog, I was strongly advised to blog either weekly or fortnightly. Given I am someone who commits to “rules of engagement”, I did just that.
But then I couldn’t.
I had to use my free from care moments to focus on my existing clients.
Was it at a cost?
Of course.
Yet I have to say,
It feels good to be back.
Your Small Act that is sure to have a Major Impact on your life or business is to project forward when making a decision and ask yourself or your team – At What Cost are you making this decision?
